Wireless Certificate Update for MU Health Care/UMHSWirelessII/TigerWiFi

Incident Report for Tiger Institute System Status

Identified

Last night, a certificate breakage in the employee WiFi networks occurred impacting laptops. Affected devices may currently be unable to connect to the MU Health Care, UMHWirelessII, or TigerWiFi networks.

A fix was implemented, but laptops will need to connect to the wired network to retrieve it. If your device was impacted, please take the following steps to resolve:

1. Connect your laptop to an onsite wired connection via an Ethernet cable connected to a wall port or a docking station connected to Ethernet
a. If you are offsite or a wired connection is not accessible, instead:
i. Connect to a non-employee WiFi network like a cell phone hotspot, your home network, or the Guest network (other networks may be preferable to Guest because it’s very slow)
ii. Open Cisco Secure Client and connect to the VPN
2. Hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press R to bring up the Run dialog
3. Enter gpupdate.exe /force and press OK
4. A black window will appear stating “Updating policy…” as it retrieves the updated certificates
5. Once that completes, the ability to connect to the employee WiFi networks should be restored! If still produces errors, please restart your computer and test again, then contact the help desk at 573-884-4357 if still not resolved.

If you're at the CRMC campus, you can take your laptop to room 1145 where an MU port is available to complete this process.
